If you are actively engaged in your job search, after doing lots of networking and participating in on-campus interviews this fall, you may be wondering what is next or how can you restrategize your search. We at mbaMission know that being rejected from your “dream job” can be very disappointing, but letting go of that emotional burden is necessary to be successful in your job search. Now  is the time to restrategize your job search! Easier said than done, right? That may be true, but a lot of fantastic opportunities are still available for positions that would enable you to make an impact, be part of a great organization, build skills, and leverage your previous experience. Here are a few tips for finding your path forward: Objectively analyze your job search efforts to date. Seek out feedback; potentially debrief with a career coach or do a mock interview. What obstacles have you been facing? What has been the toughest part of the job search to date, and will that remain the same in the coming months? Review your business school essays and the self-assessment activities you completed as a first-year student. What was most important to you? Is it the same now? If not, what has changed? What do you want to achieve through your work? Refine those goals into a list of priorities for your next role. Inventory your skills and experiences. What are your strengths? What are you known for? What is your value proposition? Look back at previous performance reviews and ask classmates for feedback. Be creative; look for ways to meet your goals in a different industry or function. What is an interim step that will allow you to get closer to your target role? Brainstorm with a career coach or mentor. Look for ways to give yourself (a much-needed) mental break and an outlet for your disappointment without missing out on any key on-campus deadlines. Do not let your lack of an offer define you or diminish your confidence; that gives the hiring manager too much power. And remember that you are not alone. The job search process is very competitive, and many of your classmates are also actively seeking post-graduation employment.
